UPDATE #4: Premiere!
I hope you all enjoyed the premiere of “Message in a Bottle” we held the other night. We couldn’t have done it without all the support from our friends and family who contributed financially (and emotionally) to the development and production of this short film.
Thank you again!
If you missed the premiere, you can see it here (for the next few months).
UPDATE #3: Overhaul
Now we’re really cooking! We’ve added another name to the project which we’re EXTREMELY excited about. Haley Seppa will be our Director of Photography on Message in a Bottle. She has a beautiful vision for the film and we are happy to have her onboard.
We’ve also overhauled a majority of our production documents:
- We’ve updated and locked the script for production: Message in a Bottle – Blue
- We finished our shooting schedule: Message in a Bottle Shooting Schedule
- We’ve updated our budget, including additional costs such as transportation and special effects (this is going to be SO WORTH IT!) Currently we’re at 61% of our newest goal, $1500: Message In A Bottle Budget V2
- Hell, we even generated a few script reports you might be interested in: Message in a Bottle – Statistics Report, Message in a Bottle – Scene Report, and the Message in a Bottle – Location Report.
Donate $25 (or more) and you’ll receive your own message in a bottle!
UPDATE #2: 77%
With less than three weeks until principal photography, we’re raised 77% of our goal! That is $925 of the $1200 we were aiming to raise. It is through your generosity and trust in the Message in a Bottle project that we’re now able to go ahead and start designing sets, arrange meetings, and schedule our rentals. But we still have the final push over the top, so to rally the troops we’re now offering an OFFICIAL GIFT for those who donate $25 OR MORE!
You’ll receive your very own “Message in a Bottle” from one of the producers after the film is finished!
We’re also very proud to announce Rae Jamison and Karen Mener will be joining us as Message in a Bottle‘s Production Designers. Stay tuned for more updates!
UPDATE #1: 43%
We’re 43% of the way to our goal of $1200. We’re planning to rent some really nice equipment for the weekend, kicking our cinematography into high gear!
How did we decide that we needed $1200? Because we put together a budget, of course. You can view a copy of the Message in a Bottle budget here: Message in a Bottle Budget.
As you can see, we have a variety of budgeted production needs. There are also a number of items that we’ve marked with $0 but we’d love to be able to put money towards if we are able to. There are also additional production and post-production fees on there because… well, those parts require money. We’re aiming high at $1200.
Take a look at the budget and the other production documents, and if you want to help us to step up our camera game, please consider donating using the link below.
PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY: NOVEMBER 22-24, 2013.“Message in a Bottle,” a man discovers a mysterious message that forces him to confront his inner demons.
A couple friends and I are gonna try something a little different. I wrote a short script called “Message in a Bottle”(downloadable below). It’s fun. It’s interesting. But most importantly…
I want to film it.
Rather than going through the (almost standard) Indie film crowdsourcing channels, we’re bringing it straight to you… Just you and us. Friends and family.
We’re opening up everything we’ve got on the project (and we’ll be adding things as they come up) in hopes that you’ll see how passionate we are about this film and help us make it happen.
How? By tossing us a little cash (of course).
No donation is too small (although if you donate under a $1.00, we’re gonna make you regret it) and a $10,000 donation is WAY too big. Anything in the middle would be much obliged.
Your contributions will be used to cover production costs, including (but not limited to) camera and lighting equipment, crew, wardrobe, props, special FX, production design, location costs, specialty shots, art direction, editing, coloring, sound design, music licensing, festival submission fees, marketing, contingency, and production value. (Ward even suggested he would go “hungry” to make the best film we can… what does that tell you?)
Check out the production documents below, we’ll be updating these in the next few days. If you have comments on the script, or anything at all, please leave a message in the comments. “It takes a village…”
